30 Seconds to Mars preps for 'War'

Alt-rockers 30 Seconds to Mars have unveiled a slate of late-fall dates that coincide with the forthcoming release of their long-awaited new album, "This Is War."
The 10-date outing, which begins Nov. 30 in Salt Lake City, kicks off a week before the record's Dec. 8 release date. The Los Angeles-based band will celebrate the album's drop with a show in Baton Rouge, LA, followed by three stops throughout the Midwest. The full schedule is shown below.
"This Is War" marks the group's third studio set and first since 2005's "A Beautiful Lie." One of the new record's tracks, "Kings and Queens," is currently streaming at the band's website.
Led by actor/singer/guitarist Jared Leto, 30 Seconds to Mars worked with producers Flood (Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails) and Steve Lilywhite (The Rolling Stones, U2) on the new effort.
The band also mobilized their fan community, known as The Echelon, inviting them in April to Hollywood, CA's Avalon Club for an impromptu recording session dubbed "The Summit." Hundreds of fans enjoyed the opportunity to contribute vocals and percussion to the new record and, because the experience was so successful, the band decided to host, though not attend, eight more summits over the summer months in countries around the world, including Australia, Italy and Mexico, among others.
"There's something magical that happens when a group of people come together, a group of strangers, and they share a public experience," Leto said in an interview with Kerrang magazine. "We then harness that energy, that collective consciousness, and apply it in a musical way."

Yes, he's wearing one of Johnny Depp's old ensembles from 21 Jump Street and he's trying to summon the unicorns with his "Ode to the Magical Forest" hair, but I don't mind it. Jared Leto knows a thing or two about filmmaking, and he's putting it all to good use in promoting This Is War, the upcoming album from his band Thirty Seconds To Mars.
Teaser clips (featured below) are already appearing on YouTube. Apparently, each video contains a code that unlocks a piece of the jigsaw at thisiswarrevealed.com. When the jigsaw is complete, there will be a free download for all participants.
Sounds simple enough, right? Ahh, but how many videos will there be in all? So far, Leto isn't saying.
What he is doing, however, along with bandmates Shannon Leto and Tomo Milisevic, is talking up This Is War, the follow-up to the group's 2007 platinum release, A Beautiful Lie. The new disc is produced by Flood, Steve Lillywhite and Thirty Seconds To Mars, and judging from this exclusive video, Jared is still pinching himself to have worked with such illustrious record makers.

30 Seconds to Mars ‘ new album, “This Is War,” doesn’t hit stores until December 8th, but you can get a sneak peak at the title track in Dragon Age: Origins . It seems a rather bizarre place to debut a new song, but there you have it. The Jared Leto -fronted band’s “This Is War” is on the Dragon Age: Origins soundtrack, and in the trailer below, co-produced by Leto himself. “We always like to push the envelope in the entertainment and media space and debuting our title track in a game of this caliber is a great way to communicate our music to fans around the world,” said Jared Leto, lead singer of Thirty Seconds to Mars. “We’ve come a long way from having to rely solely on radio to approach and engage music fans, and Dragon Age: Origins is the perfect game to do this with.” A rather nifty little tune from a band whose name I only recognize because they had a track in Rock Band, something that is happening with alarming regularity these days.

Before you go and think anything crazy, no, 30 Seconds to Mars is NOT declaring war against Bioware’s newest RPG Dragon Age: Origins. However, their new song This is War, which is off their new album that drops December 9, is the headlining song to the soundtrack. A new trailer featuring the song has been released, and it was co produced by lead singer Jared Leto. Leto is an anomaly of sorts, an actor that successfully pursued a career in music. Think that I am lying? Check out this Bruce Willis classic, or maybe Keanu Reeves musical vision…

Rockers 30 SECONDS TO MARS have launched an online treasure hunt for fans, promising clever participants free downloads from their new album as a reward.
The group, led by actor/rocker Jared Leto, will release a series of teaser clips onto the web, which fans can search for codes that will unlock a piece of a jigsaw.

It’s a return to the video game “Dragon Age: Origins” for 30 Seconds To Mars. The group is previewing the title track from their “This Is War” album throught the game. The song heads up the in-game soundtrack. Fans can get a first listen in an exclusive game trailer co-produced by 30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto. I wouldn’t call myself a huge fan of the band ‘30 Seconds to Mars’ but I do admit I have several of their songs on my iPhone: The Kill, Hunter, and Battle of One. So when I saw this it got me excited. Anytime a rock band is mention along with a game will get gamers like myself excited.

Jared Leto knows a thing or two about filmmaking, and he's putting it all to good use in promoting This Is War, the upcoming album from his band Thirty Seconds To Mars.
Teaser clips (featured below) are already appearing on YouTube. Apparently, each video contains a code that unlocks a piece of the jigsaw at thisiswarrevealed.com. When the jigsaw is complete, there will be a free download for all participants.
Sounds simple enough, right? Ahh, but how many videos will there be in all? So far, Leto isn't saying.
What he is doing, however, along with bandmates Shannon Leto and Tomo Milisevic, is talking up This Is War, the follow-up to the group's 2007 platinum release, A Beautiful Lie. The new disc is produced by Flood, Steve Lillywhite and Thirty Seconds To Mars, and judging from this exclusive video, Jared is still pinching himself to have worked with such illustrious record makers.

30 Seconds to Mars ‘ new album, “This Is War,” doesn’t hit stores until December 8th, but you can get a sneak peak at the title track in Dragon Age: Origins . It seems a rather bizarre place to debut a new song, but there you have it. The Jared Leto -fronted band’s “This Is War” is on the Dragon Age: Origins soundtrack, and in the trailer below, co-produced by Leto himself. “We always like to push the envelope in the entertainment and media space and debuting our title track in a game of this caliber is a great way to communicate our music to fans around the world,” said Jared Leto, lead singer of Thirty Seconds to Mars. “We’ve come a long way from having to rely solely on radio to approach and engage music fans, and Dragon Age: Origins is the perfect game to do this with.” A rather nifty little tune from a band whose name I only recognize because they had a track in Rock Band, something that is happening with alarming regularity these days.

Before you go and think anything crazy, no, 30 Seconds to Mars is NOT declaring war against Bioware’s newest RPG Dragon Age: Origins. However, their new song This is War, which is off their new album that drops December 9, is the headlining song to the soundtrack. A new trailer featuring the song has been released, and it was co produced by lead singer Jared Leto. Leto is an anomaly of sorts, an actor that successfully pursued a career in music. Think that I am lying? Check out this Bruce Willis classic, or maybe Keanu Reeves musical vision…

It’s a return to the video game “Dragon Age: Origins” for 30 Seconds To Mars. The group is previewing the title track from their “This Is War” album throught the game. The song heads up the in-game soundtrack. Fans can get a first listen in an exclusive game trailer co-produced by 30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto. I wouldn’t call myself a huge fan of the band ‘30 Seconds to Mars’ but I do admit I have several of their songs on my iPhone: The Kill, Hunter, and Battle of One. So when I saw this it got me excited. Anytime a rock band is mention along with a game will get gamers like myself excited.
